To protect the welfare of children by providing staff with guidance in circumstances where they witness or are made aware of inappropriate behaviour or practices in nursery.

Standards of conduct

At the beginning of each session, staff will be reminded of the standards outlined in South Lanarkshire Council’s Code of Conduct for staff and the policy on the Care and Welfare of Children and Young People. Attention will also be drawn to the SSSC Code of Practice and Care Commission Standards. The nursery teacher/team leader will meet with students at the start of their placement to ensure they are aware of these standards.
Policy into Practice

Led by the Head Teacher, nursery staff will work as a team to promote an environment of mutual respect, trust and open communication. The Head Teacher and the nursery teacher are responsible for monitoring the work of staff in the nursery.
Reporting concerns

Staff must report concerns about inappropriate behaviour or practices to

Staff who report concerns will be supported during and after investigations in accordance with relevant legislation.
